Tax relief for physio or similar medical expenses
Physiotherapy or Similar Treatment – tax relief under medical expenses ?
Examples of allowable treatments under the heading of physiotherapy include
treatment by a:
1) Physiotherapist,
2) Chiropractor,
3) Osteopath, or
4) Bonesetter.
In order for relief to be available, the treatment must be availed of on prescription
by a practitioner.
Relief is not allowable where the treatment is on the basis of self-referral.
Acupuncture treatment is not allowable unless carried out by a person who is a
qualified medical practitioner
