You do not need to pay CGT on gains from:

1. betting
2. first €1,270 of your gains in a year
3. Own home subject to conditions
4. Transfer site to children. Subject to conditions
5. lottery wins
6. prize bonds
7. sweepstakes
8. bonuses under the National Instalments Savings Scheme
9. government stocks
10. certain life assurance policies
11. moveable property (such as furniture), where the gain does not exceed €2,540
12. animals
13. private motor cars.
