Tax Relief on dental expenses
What dental expense can you claim tax relief of 20% on:
a) crowns
b) veneers or Rembrandt type etched fillings
c) tip replacing
d) gold posts or fibreglass posts
e) gold inlays: a smaller version of a gold crown. You can only claim relief for gold if they are made outside the mouth. Relief is allowed for inlays made from materials other than gold
f) endodontics – root canal treatment
g) periodontal treatment for gum disease: root planing (including curettage and debridement) and gum flaps; chrome cobalt splints (but not if it contains teeth); and implants (including bone grafting and bone augmentation)
h) orthodontic treatment: provision of braces and related treatments.
i) surgical extraction of impacted wisdom teeth
j) bridgework: an enamel-retained bridge or a tooth-supported bridge.
Can’t claim for routine dental work such as fillings etc
Also ensure to get a med 2 form from your dentist to claim tax relief on dental expenses
