Rent a room relief

If you let a room (or rooms) in your home, including for example, rooms let to students for the academic year, and the gross amounts receivable (“relevant sums”), including monies for food, laundry or similar goods and services, does not exceed €12,000, the rent is not subject to income tax, PRSI and USC purposes

Note that rent received from on-line accommodation sites such as Airbnb or rent from family members are not exempt from income tax, PRSI and USC
