Carer Allowance – Tax Relief

A person can claim an allowance where he has to employ a person to take care of an incapacitated family member

The carer may be employed on an individual basis or through an employment agency

The maximum allowance is €50,000 per annum for each incapacitated person

The allowance is available at the marginal rate of tax of 40%
