Year of marriage relief
Married couples are taxed as single persons in the year in which the marriage takes place
If the total payable as single persons exceeds the amount which would have been payable if they were
married and jointly assessed for the whole year, they will entitled on making a joint claim to additional relief or refund
A claim for relief must be made jointly and in writing in the year after the year the marriage took place
