Permanent health contributions (PHI) are premiums paid for income protection in the event of serious illness.
Many of the large insurance companies provide such insurance
People take out PHI policy to ensure that they have regular income if become seriously ill and lose their job.
You can deduct the cost of a qualifying PHI against your taxable income in your tax return. Subject to a maximum of 10% of your total income in a year
