Inheritance and gift tax

Budget 2017 unveiled yesterday increased the life time tax free thresholds for gifts or inheritances as follows to:

Parents to children      310,000

Other family                   32,500

Strangers                         16,250

The new threshold starts from 12th October onwards and applies to any inheritances or gifts received after that date
